Spot on on the suggestion to sell covered calls. You can make a little money in the process, but not a lot. Not without risking your upside in the stock in question.

You should definitely play around doing “paper trades”. Buying options, in general, is a good way to slowly throw your money away. The overwhelming majoriy of options are never exercised, therefore the original premium paid to buy the option is waste money (which is why selling covered calls can earn you a little extra money).
